The Muckrake Manifesto

The Election of Donald Trump in 2016 represented a sea change in our understanding of the United States of America and our political moment. In startling fashion, misinformation, malevolent propaganda, pervasive myth, and blatant lies were able to infect the discourse and pave the way for growing fascism and the destruction of democratic norms. The Muckrake is an attempt to address these terrifying trends and provide the type of perspectives and information traditional media sources are either unable to convey or unwilling to explore. This project is dedicated to probing our history and culture for both clues of how we got here, but also, more importantly, how we might move forward. We promise to follow the stories where they lead, speak truth to power, and present the objective truth to the best of our abilities.
